How is Templar different to other Advisers?

We have invested heavily to ensure our service can provide a combination of: • Investment advice • A range of independent investments • Insurance advice • Ability to work across borders • Transparency • Regulatory protection. Within the EU, you will find it very difficult to find a business like ours which combines the above services, is independent and has no conflicts of interest. Ask any adviser: Are you regulated for Investment advice? Are you regulated for Insurance advice? Are you Independent? Which borders can you work across and how and why? Do you disclose all of your earnings? What regulatory protection to you offer?

Why should I trust you?

To be blunt, at the outset you do not need to trust Templar, just find out more. In brief : • We are regulated • We are known to the authorities • We only can and only do act on your instruction. Have a look at the information on security and go to the links on the home page, including the ‘our guide to MiFID link’ - rules which we follow for your protection. We believe you will trust us when you realise you have found a service which knows what it is talking about and delivers what you want! More formally – you might trust us because we are fully regulated and are known to the competent authorities of the country of Malta and the European Union.

How secure is my investment?

Your investments are very secure. Details of security can be found on our Security page. In addition to sourcing known and regulated Investment managers and Custodians for example, diversifying your investments is key – which we provide. Your investments will be at the right risk for you. Risk and therefore the spread of investments will vary according to the risk you wish to take and the long term growth you wish to achieve – Recommending the right portfolio for you is where advice comes in.

Can you help with my Pension funds, Trust funds or Company funds?

Yes. Your investments may be held personally, in family members names, be within a pension, Trust or company. In all cases the principles of providing Independent Investment Advice are the same.

Who manages my investments?

We facilitate the initial investments and then report back to you with valuations and where necessary updates and or recommendations to switch funds for example. On a day to day basis different fund managers or product providers manage your individual investments. You can have 24/7 access to view your investments and their valuations.

What happens if Templar is liquidated?

Your investments and portfolios will not be affected in any way. All of your individual funds are held by Custodians independent of Templar.

Will you send me regular reports and be around in the future?

Yes. Our whole business model is set up to provide a regular long term service. You will have the option of 24/7 access to your portfolio valuations and there will be a formal annual review. Plus, we are always at the end of the phone, on skype and email.

What are your fees or commissions?

Templar makes no charge at the first point of contact to talk or liaise by email for example. You are under no obligation to follow any of our guidance. If you choose to engage with us, a fee or commission structure is agreed in writing with you before the advisory process and arrangement of any investments begins. Our earnings are confirmed to you in writing at the end of the process.

Will your service cost me extra in some way?

Absolutely not. We are charged with finding the best, sometimes the cheapest and always the most suitable investments for your needs. Sometimes, investors are happy with their investment strategy but wish to reduce charges. Other times, a specialist investment is required and it is more expensive. In all circumstances, no investment is proceeded with until reasoning is documented and that reasoning is sound. That includes any charges.

Do you handle my money?

Absolutely not. We direct it. Our role is to advise you on where best to put your money or your wealth. Our responsibility is to make sure that where we place your money is safe, is what it says on the tin, is suitable for you and that you understand any risks. We may arrange investments for you, but your funds go directly to the provider involved.

What happens if I decide to work with another adviser in the future?

Simple. Remember, we do not handle your money. You can disengage with us and find another adviser any time you wish to. Your investments will remain in your name. It is always your choice.

What should I do if I have a complaint?

If you are not satisfied with any aspect of our investment or insurance service, you should contact your investment advisor or relationship manager by letter, e-mail, telephone or in person. You may also raise your complaint in writing to: James Edwards, Templar EIS Limited, The Hub, Triq Sant Andrija, SGN 1612, San Gwann, Malta or info@templar-eis.com. We will take all reasonable steps to handle your complaint or concern in a fair and efficient manner, keeping full records of your complaint and the measures taken for its resolution. If we cannot resolve the situation to your satisfaction, the matter can be referred to the Office of the Arbiter for Financial Services, 1st Floor, St Calcedonius Square, Floriana FRN 1530, Malta. www.financialarbiter.org.mt Any complaint will not prejudice your legal rights.
